Manage presets for your users

Presets you add on the admin page reach every user’s devices, beside their own. You decide which ones they get; they can favorite and hide them, not change them.

  1. 1

    Open the Presets page

Open /admin on your server and choose Presets. Shared presets are the ones you add: every user gets them in LightBites, in the Presets panel with the ones the app comes with. Built-in presets lists what the app ships with, so you can hide some of it for everyone.

You have to be an admin. Devices get your changes the next time they sync.

  2. 2

    Import preset files

Tap Import presets and pick files: LightBites and LightCraft presets (.lcpreset), XMP presets, Lightroom presets (.lrtemplate), and zips of them. The same reader as LightBites’ own Import Presets is used, so what works there works here. A preset that is already in the list is skipped.

Each preset lands in the group its file names. Files the server can’t read are listed with the reason; the rest are still added.

  3. 3

    Organize them in groups

Drag a preset onto another group to move it there: the group’s rows light up while you hold it over them. A row at the bottom, Drop here to move it to a new group, appears while you drag; drop on it and name the new group. On a touch screen, or with the keyboard, use the Move button instead and type the group’s name.

Rename changes a preset’s name, or a whole group’s name (a group that already has that name takes its presets). Delete removes a preset or a whole group from every device. Edits users made with a preset stay.

A group exists while it has presets: move the last one out and the group is gone.

  4. 4

Switch presets off without deleting them

Every preset and every group has an Enabled switch. Switch one off and it goes from every user’s devices the next time they sync, but it stays on this page, dimmed and marked Disabled, with its settings. Switch it on again and it comes back.

The switch on a group changes all its presets at once. A group counts as disabled when all its presets are; a preset you move or import into a disabled group starts disabled too, so a group you switched off stays off. Switch the new preset on (or the group) to show it.

Use it to keep a seasonal set ready for next year, to try a preset with a few people before everyone, or to take a preset down while you fix it.

    Hide presets LightBites ships with

Under Built-in presets, a switch per group and per preset turns it off for every user, for example the black-and-white group if nobody uses it. Users can still hide the rest for themselves on their own devices.

  6. 6

From the iPhone, iPad or Mac

The same page is in LightBites: Settings, Server Administration, Presets. Swipe a preset (or press and hold it, on a Mac click with the secondary button) for Rename, Move, Disable and Delete; the group’s … menu disables or deletes the whole group. Drag and drop is on the web page.

If another admin changes the presets while you do, you’re told and shown theirs: try your change again.
